About Mr. Piorek
-
It has often been said and written that if a person does what he truly loves, he’ll never work a day in his life. Teaching fifth-graders is my passion and my calling. I love their energy, spirit, excitement, and enthusiasm. God has a plan for each of us, and I firmly believe this is where I am meant to be.
It is richly-rewarding and a blessing to be able to teach Religion, Science, and Mathematics to fifth-graders. I am able to share my deep spirituality, extensive meteorological and Earth Science background, affinity for Mathematics, and passion for education with my students.
During a nearly two-decades-long career as a fifth-grade teacher, I also taught Mathematics and Science at Greenwich Catholic School, where I previously won the Connecticut Teacher of the Year award from the state chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and at St. Mark School in Stratford.
As a lifetime Fairfield resident and parishioner of St. Pius X Parish, I have been teaching fifth-grade religious education classes for 25-plus years, while also serving as a reader and usher at my home parish. I was baptized at St. Pius X Church just weeks after it opened and was a member of the first class to attend all eight grades at St. Pius X School.
One of my proudest moments was being inducted into the Housatonic Community College Hall of Fame and earning the Distinguished Alumni Award in 2012. I graduated from HCC with a perfect 4.0 grade-point-average and magna cum laude honors, and I earned my teaching certification from Southern Connecticut State University.
In addition, I have served as master of ceremonies for dozens of charity, community, and local sports events, including the Make-A-Wish Foundation and Fairfield's Special Olympics. I've also been recognized for years of dedicated service to people with special needs.
I am excited to be teaching fifth-grade Religion, Science, and Mathematics at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic School in my hometown. It’s not a career; it’s a passion.
