About Mrs. Geriak
-
I have been teaching middle school math at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic School since 2018. I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with a concentration in child development from Bucknell University. I worked as a preschool teacher right after graduation while I pursued my Certification and Masters Degree in Education from Sacred Heart University.
I began my teaching journey as a fourth grade teacher at Hindley School in the Darien Public School system. After 6 years of teaching there, my family and I relocated to North Carolina. While in NC, I job-shared in Kindergarten for the Wake County school system. We then relocated back to CT. Upon my return, I was called to teach gifted education. I taught gifted students in Darien, New Haven, and Norwalk grades K to 8. After 11+ years in education, my teaching journey has brought me to Saint Thomas Aquinas Catholic School.
I have always had a love of math and am thrilled to have the opportunity to bring my experience and enthusiasm to STACS students.
My classroom is based in J.O.Y-Love of Jesus, Love of Others, Love of Yourself. It is an energetic learning environment where students are challenged to take ownership of their learning with teacher guidance. As math builds on math, students are given computation practice, but more importantly examples and work with real world application. This is key for understanding and retention of math concepts. I look forward to challenging and helping the students of STACS grow as learners, mathematicians, and people.
