Miss Brady, Principal, is pleased to announce that Saint Thomas Aquinas Catholic School has received continued accreditation from the New England Association of Schools and Colleges for the next ten years!  (2008 2018)

In a letter received in early December, 2008 William Bennett, Director of the Commission, we were commended for writing a comprehensive, thorough Self –Study report to the visiting team in November, 2008.

Saint Thomas Aquinas Catholic School was commended for supporting its mission through the programs and the overall school experience.  It was noted in the report that our teachers educate each student academically, spiritually and physically.  It is the combination of education, faith, athletics and enrichment that gives rise to the well-rounded students of Saint Thomas Aquinas Catholic School.  United with one another in character education and prayer, the students come to a greater understanding of their Catholic faith and Christ’s message of love.

Completing the self-study report and hosting the visiting team are major events in a school’s life.  They are, however, only the first steps in the school improvement process which is at the heart of accreditation by NEASC.  Saint Thomas Aquinas Catholic School is positioned to take full advantage of the accreditation process by engaging our school community in responding to the three recommendations in the report.

  1. That we continue our excellent focus on safety issues within the school building.
  2. That we develop a school-wide, consistent Discipline Policy
  3. That we continue to identify ways to increase student awareness of cultural diversity and to appreciate the traditions and customs of others.

Miss Brady will be putting together a follow up committee consisting of administration and faculty who will monitor and report our progress on addressing these recommendations as well as participate in the two-year interim evaluation report of progress in 2010-2011.

As you know, Miss Brady has already addressed recommendation #2 regarding the implementation of a new discipline policy.  This new policy has been in effect since January, 2009

Gratitude is again expressed to all those teachers and parents who assisted in the self-study and visiting team segment of this process.
