Many donors prefer to make special designated gifts to St. Thomas Catholic School for use outside the annual operating budget that provide enhancements to the academic program. For example, gifts may be made to the School's financial aid, academic and athletic programs, the arts and cultural enrichment, faculty professional development, technology and physical plant enhancements. Donors may also wish to make a gift in honor or in memory of a loved one.

Angel Aid Donations

100% of your generous donation goes directly to tuition assistance.  This allows families with financial need the opportunity for Catholic education.   To make a donation to the Angel Aid Tuition Fund please either:

Gifts of Cash
Cash gifts are always welcome and allow us to further strengthen programs for the benefit of all students.

Gifts of Stock
It is often more tax-wise to contribute stock rather than cash. Gifts of appreciated stock help you avoid paying capital gains tax on the stock's increased value. Additionally, you receive an income-tax deduction for the stock's full, fair-market value on the date you made the gift. (The stock must have been held more than one year.)

Matching Gifts
Many companies match contributions that their employees make to non-profit institutions such as Sacred Heart. Most matches are on a 1:1 basis, but some companies match 2:1 or 3:1. Upon making your own gift, you may request your company to match it. Matching gift forms are usually available in your company's human resources office.

Connecticut Neighborhood Assistance Act Tax Credit Program (for corporations)

It has come to my attention from a Catholic school parent and from one of our
Catholic schools there is an opportunity for our schools to receive donations from
Corporations and for those Corporations to receive a tax credit.

Under the Connecticut Neighborhood Assistance Act Tax Credit Program Corporations
may donate funds directly to school scholarship programs under the guise of
neighborhood assistance or may receive a donation for building renovations.

Some of our Catholic schools are taking advantage of this program including Saint
Peter’s in Danbury, Saint Mary’s, Saint John’s and Sacred Heart High School in Waterbury
and Saint James’ in Manchester.

The program does require some work from our schools and diocese development staff.
Corporations will need to know about the potential tax credit and be informed that a
particular school is participating in this program.

I have provided links for your information:
• A summary of the program from the Connecticut Department of Revenue Services -
http://www.ct.gov/drs/cwp/view.asp?a=1510&q=310282

• The information publication from the Department of Revenue Services -
http://www.ct.gov/drs/cwp/view.asp?a=1447&q=266058&drsPNavCtr=|

• Form NAA-01 which must be completed by the school -
http://www.ct.gov/drs/lib/drs/fillable_forms/2005forms/naa-01fill.pdf

I believe I can be off assistance by working with the municipalities to ensure they submit the paperwork and include our Catholic schools as approved programs to receive the donation.

Please let me know if you have any further questions.
